Project Highlight: Lamkin 20×20 Trade Show Booth

For both amateur and professional golfers, there’s one name that’s synonymous with a quality golf grip: Lamkin Golf Grips. The company has come a long way since 1925, when Elver Lamkin started designing and creating leather golf grips in his suburban Chicago garage. More than 90 years later—now helmed by Elver’s grandson, Bob—Lamkin is one of the world’s leading providers of golf grips.

At the 2019 PGA Show, Lamkin exhibited with a 20×20 rental booth with the goal of promoting their new line of golf grips and grip technology to as many show attendees as possible.

Client Needs

Lamkin tasked Rockway with designing an upscale, open-feel exhibit that could showcase nearly 100 custom golf grips. They needed two main areas to feature products, which included tabletop displays and wall-mounted displays with grips at waist and chest level for ready access. Lamkin envisioned a tall, elegant exhibit structure with plenty of room for attendees to experience and test out the grips.

The Rockway Solution

With the show only two months away, Rockway’s design team got straight to work. We presented a concept that would achieve the serene and upscale aesthetic Lamkin desired, while ensuring the space remained functional for booth staff and attendees walking the show floor. Custom design elements included:

  • Custom flooring with carpet and wood vinyl for a sophisticated look.
  • Custom acrylic grip holders for the table display, as well as custom wall-mounted grip holders.
  • A floor display to showcase the grips in different areas.
  • A small seating area for casual conversations.
  • Aluminum extrusion and truss, wrapped in fabric graphics.
  • A secured storage closet hidden inside the graphic tower.

Although not apparent to the naked eye, this booth was designed in a way that allowed quick, streamlined setup and could stand up to the demands of tens of thousands of attendees over the course of the 2019 PGA Show.
